Selling your car at our vehicle auctions

If you're selling your vehicle in one of our car auctions please bring it down before 6.00pm on the day of the auction with all the relevant documentation (check list below) and one of our dedicated administration team will do the rest.

It is advised that every effort is made by the vendor to present your vehicle in the best possible way. Cleaning and polishing the vehicle inside and out can help attract possible buyers. Also the earlier a car is submitted, the more viewing time it receives from possible buyers.

Car Auctions - Selling Terms & Conditions

Depending on the age of the vehicle it will be offered for sale either:

Sold as Seen

All vehicles offered at City Auction Group are sold under the description as "Sold as Seen" this condition allows the car to be sold strictly as it is with all faults and no comebacks.

Provisional Sale:

Bidding on a vehicle may stop slightly short of the reserve price. In this case, vehicles can be sold provisionally - the vendor is contacted by City Auction Group for negotiation.

Reserve Price:

If a reserve price is not stated in the appropriate place on the entry form the vehicle will be sold without reserve. Vehicles will not be released until they have been through the sale room or the auctioneers have ceased selling for the day.

Vehicle Charges

A commission is deducted from sale price of vehicles and charged at:

A Vehicle Entry Fee of £40 plus VAT per sale is charged for every vehicle. In cases where vehicle entry fee is not paid prior to auction it is deducted from sale amount.

Commercial Vehicles

A 10% (plus VAT) commission charge is deducted from the sale price of the vehicle.

Vehicle Insurance & Transfer of Title:

All vehicles must remain fully insured by the owner when located at any of our auction premises until the vehicle is sold and you have received cleared funds into your bank account. At this point the legal title of the vehicle will be transferred to the purchaser at which point he must insure the vehicle.

Payment:

Subject to being paid and any outstanding finance issues settled, a remittance advice and cheque (a/c payee only) less fees is issued to the vendor.

Unsold Vehicles:

Unsuccessful vehicles at auction will continue to be put through at a cost of £30 per vehicle, per auction, unless otherwise notified.

If selling your vehicle at City Auction Group, it is the responsibility of the vendor to supply the vehicle with its registration document (V5). Any other related documentation (MOT certificate, tax disk, service history) are also required upon presentation.

Entry forms are required to be clearly completed in full as these forms are used by the auctioneer to describe the vehicle from the rostrum.

It is up to the prospective seller to determine its condition and value. The description on the entry form enables the seller to describe the condition of the vehicles major mechanical components and thus draws the buyer's attention to such features.

Accuracy of vehicle description is essential particularly when relating to previous accident damage, even when unrecorded. The vendor will be fully liable for misdiscription if it becomes known at a later date the vehicle has been subject to any form of damage without confirmation prior to sale. It must be noted a misleading description may make the owner liable to prosecution under the various Trading Standards laws and you will be charged commission in the event of a cancelled sale. City Auction Group allows trading standards full access to all records upon request.

Selling Terms & Conditions

Items auctioned 'Sold As Seen' - Auctioneer's description is general not binding. Items are strictly sold as seen, including faults and damages if applicable. Vendors are required to state all faults and damages on entry form.

Charges:

Charges are liable to change. An agreed commission fee (plus V.A.T.) is charged on sold items based on a sliding scale criterion. V.A.T. charged on Commission. Payment:

Subject to being paid and any outstanding finance issues settled, a remittance advice and cheque (a/c payee only) less fees is issued to the vendor.

Unsold Items:

Items are expected to be collected by vendor if unsold after three consecutive auctions. A weekly charge will be incurred for storage if not reclaimed.

Entry forms are required to be clearly completed in full as these forms are used by the auctioneer to describe the item from the rostrum.
